Our Mission Statement
“Black Petticoat Society” is a term AvK coined at the beginning of Season One in reference to those of us on Tumblr who immediately fell in love with and developed an instant, lasting devotion to the world of TURN: Washington’s Spies. BPS is essentially the faction of the TURN: Washington’s Spies fandom for the intensely devoted!
Since then, we have expanded across social media to include other sites, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to network with so many wonderful fans of this fantastic show! We as a group are a close knit association, known for our humor, creativity, and passion for history!
We pride ourselves on the exceptional rapport that we enjoy within our immediate community, and that which we have developed with the cast and production team of TURN. These elements are of utmost importance to us to maintain. The expectations of BPS have always included high standards for etiquette, and it is expected that members conduct themselves with gentility and cordiality.
Other than a commitment to treating all members of the fandom, cast, crew, and production team with kindness, dignity, and respect, the only additional requirement for recruitment is a vehement love of TURN!
On Tumblr, we use the tags “turn amc” and “black petticoat society” for general TURN related miscellany, and “turnedit” and “turn fanfiction” are used to tag our fan works! In addition, “amc turn” and “turn: washington’s spies” may also be used, but if you want to capture our attention, the first two tags are essential! On Twitter, we use the hashtags #BPS, #BlackPetticoatSociety and #TurnAMC.
